After Burner’s style has and always will be about jets going really fast, a rocking soundtrack, and huge explosions. In that regard, the X68000 version delivers. Graphics are amazing with scaling sprites straight out of the arcade version. The X68000 could not have handles as many sprites as the arcade game, but Dempa certainly tried pushing the limit when they were porting After Burner. The game moves fast too, at speeds comparable to the arcade version. The soundtrack is a bit louder and more adjusted to the FM Synth, but this is to be expected. Most X68000 games had more emphasis on FM Synth sound.
