Zombie Estate 2 is basically a major update of its predecessor. It is still a twin-stick shooter (one stick for movement and one for aiming) with pixel graphics in which the player has to survive zombie waves of increasing difficulty. Between waves, the player visits the shop to buy more weapons and ammo.
Besides updates in numbers (four maps instead of one, more weapons, etc.), the major new feature are character differences: all characters have an unique starting weapon with unlimited ammo, an unlockable super weapon and statistics which can be improved during the course of the game. In addition to money, each survived round also rewards weapon upgrade points. There are other smaller design changes, e.g. a game mode with unlimited waves, more zombies show up than required to finish the wave and items left behind by killed enemies slowly gravitate towards the player when in range
