If you strike a ball poorly, your confidence is shaken slightly. The worse you perform, the lower that confidence sinks. And that low confidence will make it much tougher to hit a shot straight, sink a putt, or make a fairway. Conversely, you are rewarded each time you make a good shot with a boost of confidence.
