Dr. Mario is a 1990 Famicom puzzle video game developed by Nintendo R&D1 and released by Nintendo in Japan on July 27, 1990.

From plumber to doctor, Mario has made quite the career change. Dr. Mario for the Famicom has Mario exchanging his red jumpsuit for stark whites as he gets put on the case of a strange color-coded virus. Dr. Mario leaves behind the classic side-scrolling gameplay of Super Mario Bros. and has players matching falling colored capsules while combatting a spreading virus. Remove viruses by matching them to similarly colored capsules before the board fills up or it's game over.
