After completing her mission to destroy the Metroids on SR-388, Samus Aran is killed by a powerful parasite known as “X,” which then creates a deadly copy of her called SA-X. The SA-X, along with other X parasites, spreads across the galaxy, wiping out both the Galactic Federation and the Space Pirates by mimicking and replacing them.
However, on the distant Planet Nebov, a small group of Space Pirate leaders—Kraid, Ridley, and Crocomire—survive. Sent there earlier to work on a Metroid-based vaccine, they succeed in creating “Vaccine Metroid,” which immunizes the inhabitants against the X. The planet becomes a safe haven and even thrives, with Crocomire hosting a Metroidvania-style gameshow.
In a final attempt to achieve total domination, the X hivemind sends its most powerful agent—Samus Aran-X—to exterminate the last resistance on Planet Nebov. The mission: complete annihilation.
