Gimmick Land, (called Gimmick Land: Tomato Head's Secret when including its subtitle) is an unreleased role-playing game that serves as the prototype to Tomato Adventure. The game was developed by AlphaDream and was originally going to be published by them. While the game is complete and fully playable, Nintendo asked AlphaDream to use the pre-existing concepts developed in Tomato Adventure and port the experience to the Game Boy Advance system. Because of this, the game is practically the same outside of a few minor changes.
Before the ROM was leaked online in September 2020 as a part of the “Nintendo Gigaleak”, the only publicly available documentation of the prototype that existed was two screenshots. An unofficial English fan translation was released on August 3, 2022. The English fan translation is currently labeled as unfinished, but features a full translation of the main script, and most other elements that are necessary to understand in order to complete the game.
