Metal Slug The Battle of Vietnam 2001 (越南戰役2001) is an unlicensed game for the Game Boy Color developed by BBD. It is based on the Neo Geo Pocket Color game Metal Slug 1st Mission and incorporates some aspects from its sequel, Metal Slug 2nd Mission.
The game has the player control Gimlet from Metal Slug 2nd Mission throughout multiple levels. The levels in the game are designed similarly to levels from Metal Slug 1st Mission.
Two versions of this game are known to exist as ROM dumps online. One version available as a ROM is 2 MB in size and was dumped from a Sintax reprint of the game with no copy protection, and is what appears to be the full version of the game. The other version is the common ROM for the game and is 1 MB in size, which has less levels and bosses, as well as a bug where pausing the game will infinitely repeat the pause sound effect until the game is unpaused. It is unknown where the common ROM originates from or if the undumped original Chinese BBD release differs from any of the dumped versions.
