Wii customers were able to purchase a number of Nintendo 64 games through the Wii Virtual Console. Each game was run on a custom emulator on the Wii. Hackers were able to replace the official roms on these games with their own Nintendo 64 roms. This led to a large variety of N64 titles being playable on the Wii. These games were sometimes referred to as “Virtual Console Injects”.
