Wii customers were able to purchase a number of TurboGrafx-16 games through the Wii Virtual Console. Hackers were able to replace the official roms on these games with their own TurboGrafx-16 roms. This led to a large variety of TurboGrafx-16 titles being playable on the Wii. These games were sometimes referred to as “Virtual Console Injects”. One notable feature of these TurboGrafx-16 emulation was 5-player support on certain games. This was achieved by allowing players to combine up to four Wiimotes/Wii classic controllers with up to four Gamecube controllers for a total of five players.
