Starfleet is currently puzzled by a mysterious region of space. Virtually every Federation starship that enters it defects to the Klingon Empire. Designating this region of space the Quarantine Zone, Starfleet sees no other option but to seal it off with a “Klein Sphere,” a massive force field. Before the Klein Sphere is activated, Starfleet sends in the U.S.S. Enterprise to investigate.
