The Witcher: Platinum Edition is an enhanced release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition that comes on 2 DVD discs. This game is patched to version 1.5, which includes:
– In addition to the extra scenarios of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition – The Price of Neutrality and Side Effect, this release includes five fan made scenarios: Blight of Bogs, Deceits, Wraiths of the Quiet Hamlet, The Wedding and Merry Witchmas. They have been translated into Polish and English but have no voiceovers, only subtitles.
– A fix for EAX problems
– Removal of the copy protection (DRM) so that the player does not have to have the disc loaded when playing the game. This also means that the D’jinni Editor, present on the Bonus DVD, can be used when the disc is not loaded.
This release also includes voice-overs and subtitles in nine languages so that, as with The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, the player can choose to have the voiceovers and subtitles in different languages.
The Bonus Content DVD contains the following folders:
– Adventures Artwork: two pieces of artwork for the Merry Witchmas scenario and two more for The Wedding which are very similar to The Wedding wallpapers, below.
– Artbook: a 204 page .pdf document in English that documents the artwork of The Witcher from 2002 – 2007 and includes locations, characters, weapons, furniture, storyboards, team photos and posters.
– Bonus avatars: this contains folders for the following characters: Azar Javed, Geralt, Triss Merigold, Yaevin & Zygfryd. Each folder contains a set of files in .gif format.
– DirectX: there seems to be DirectX versions here from Febuary 2005 through to June 2008.
– Flash mod: this installs Flash Mod v1.0.1 in Polish & English. It is a tool used by the Ifrit Creative Group.
– Game Guides: Witcher: Enhanced Edition guides in French, English, German and Italian – all in .pdf format and all around 115 pages long.
– Manuals: Witcher: Enhanced Edition game manuals in German, Italian, French & English – all in .pdf format and all around 80 pages long.
– Merry Witchmas walkthrough: this holds a single, eleven-page document in English with maps and mission details.
– Other stuff: this folder contains a short video clip of the characters playing table football (aka foozball), another video entitled The Witcher Mysterious Secrets April Fools Intro, and an .mp3 file called The Wedding Theme.
– Soundtrack: there are four folders of .mp3 files here James Semple Music (10 tracks); Music Inspired of (15 tracks); Soundtrack of Merry Witchmas (9 tracks plus cover art); and TW OST (29 tracks).
– The Wedding walkthrough: a three-page .pdf file.
– The Wedding wallpapers: four wallpapers, all of the same image but in different sizes.
– World map: a single two-page .pdf document containing two images.
