Kakyuusei (下級生 = underclassmates) is a visual novel/dating sim produced by ELF, and is a spin-off to the company's well-known previous effort Dokyuusei. The SEGA Saturn release is a port of the title which originally released on the PC-98.
Kakyuusei stars Kentarou, whom is entering his final year of high school. Currently boarding with Yuuki Mizuho, one of the characters Kentarou can date, Kentarou hopes to use the money he made over summer break to make some memories during his final year of high school.
Similar to Dokyuusei, Kakyuusei requires the player to learn where particular characters will be at on particular times and days of the week. The in-game clock ticks for any movements by the player, with competent play-throughs requiring replays.
Kakyuusei would not only receive two distinctive anime series, but would also be followed up by a sequel titled Kakyuusei 2.
